Four hours of organizing props today … and somehow it looks like I did absolutely nothing 😂
(Please tell me I’m not the only one whose “big organizing day” somehow ends with everything looking exactly the same!?)
But behind the scenes, a lot DID happen.
Every prop in my studio has a purpose, from the obvious ones to the weird, random, “why do you even own that?” pieces.
A tiny suitcase, bed frame, shopping cart and golf bag.
A full sized BBQ.
A stethoscope.
A ball pit/faux bubbles.
A microscope with beakers.
A full sized whiskey barrel.
An ice cream stand.
Vintage telephones, alarm clocks and radio.
Video games, claw machine games and board games.
Popcorn machine, sno-cone maker, EZ Bake Oven.
A quirky little object that somehow becomes the perfect detail in a brand image.
The magic of product photography isn’t just having a beautiful product and a camera. It’s about building a world around that product and creating a feeling, telling a story, and helping your ideal customer picture themselves using it.
That’s where a curated prop collection makes a difference.
Instead of starting from scratch for every session, I can pull from hundreds (thousands?) of pieces to create concepts that feel intentional, on-brand, and unique to each client.
Swipe through for some of the strange props that have made their way into my images, and believe me when I say there are even MORE strange and unique props just WAITING for their closeup with your products.
What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever seen used in a product photo?
