Part 2/2:

Some of you may remember the original post on Penny, a 4 month old kitten born with a congenital defect, known as Megaesophagus.

Throughout her short life, Penny made her family smile, got to go on crazy outdoor adventures, and met a ton of new people. She was adopted from the humane society in February, but had always showed signs of an eating disorder of some sort. X-rays done in April revealed that she had an enlarged esophagus, with little to no muscle use. She could not hold much food down and was constantly hungry. She never quite reached a weight above 1kg.

Penny passed away on April 17th, leaving behind a dent in her family. She is deeply missed, but her family is so glad that she got to spend her life in a loving home, rather than a cage.

Part 1/2:

This is Penny. Although she may look like an 8 week old kitten, she is actually over double that age and weighs only slightly over 1kg. Born with a congenital defect, known as Megaesophagus, she has a very short lifespan and will always be incredibly tiny. However, she lives every one of her days to the fullest. Penny is a cuddle bug, loves people and is always up for an adventure. She loves playing and wrestling with her kitten sister and watching her older cat brother roam around. Her gorgeous markings and sweet personality have captured hearts everywhere she goes, and she is always spoiled with cuddles and kisses. She will always come to greet visitors at the door and is happy to meet new animals and people.

These are the first two photos that Penny allowed me to capture recently. She almost seemed excited to be getting her picture taken, as if she knew that her parents would be able to have that wonderful memory for years to come. Penny was so patient for the whole photoshoot and got lots of treats along the way.

Part 2 of Penny's story will be out in a little while, describing her origins and further revealing her amazing personality.
