Next Wednesday is the start of Bike Nights at Downtown Smiths Falls! I'm certain I'll run into a few familiar faces as this will be the first year I can finally make it up to some bike nights! Might even run into some old college photography friends too! I know some of the Brockville GOC and Freedom Harley-Davidson of Ottawa are planning on heading that way as well!

So... that being said, I'll be that gal with the camera (honestly there will most likely be a few photographers taking photos); and If ya want a photo of you/your bike, just let me know :)

--> I plan on photographing all sorts of images --> bike groups, bike solos, riders on bikes, mingling, etc...

PS: The weather is looking FABULOUS for that day so far, but should it flip sides... then it is not worth the risk of the gear, just as a heads up.

Bird friends (of course) from May 22nd. I went to 4 different locations and got to witness a fledgling Grackle take its first flight shortly after I took the photo of it because Red-winged Blackbirds were being pests. The fact that I got to witness a fledge of a Common Grackle 2 years in a row now is surreal... just goes to show how much time I spend outside eh?

The majority of people never notice these things happen, but when you spend 6+ hours, in 1 location, day after day... the results will start to show. The two most common birds that humans see fledge are American Robins and Owls (Barred / Great Horned), but when you get to see birds such as Grackles, Red-winged Blackbirds, Great Blue Herons and so forth... it's just amazing.

As you can tell, all of these birds were photographed along bodies of water, and even the crow was enjoying the warm day.

The USS Cleveland LCS 31 Combat Ship of the U.S. Navy! Just look at this beauty! I love getting to watch warships, battleships, combat sh*ts etc, and locating the weapons such as the MK 110 Naval Gun on the front deck! This was the goal of the day! *No, I'm not a super nerd okay, doing a quick search to find more information about what is loaded on each vessel can be your best friend.* :) The Cleveland is smaller than the Marinette (LCS 25) that I got passing through this very area last year.

I was so worried that with initial projections, they were going to continue travelling throughout the night but they slowed right down and had only got to Cape Vincent (South of Wolfe Island, Kingston) around 5am today. She passed by Iroquois - Morrisburg around 1:30pm and at the point of these photos the vessel was travelling at 11.6kn (MarineTraffic app gives you some details :P)

Today I saw way more birds then I bothered to photograph... But here are some I did try to get, and I swear... I will spend all Summer trying to get a closer, much better shot of the Marsh Wren!

I did get a lifer today, the Wilson's Warbler. I also SAW another lifer, the Sora, but I could not get a shot as it was far too close to me and then when we both noticed each other, it went into hiding out of sight but continued to make its beautiful call. This bird will probably be the one I also spend all summer long trying to get... I will dig out the hip waders just to stand perfectly still out of sight all in camo if I have too (Kidding... well, maybe :P)!

One that was not on my birding bingo card today however, was getting 2 Peregrine Falcons together... that is a first for me! I've only ever gotten 1 by itself before, so this was rather a shocker!!

The caption... well said 🤣 - I too am still seaking that great shot of a Belted Kingfisher! They truly are skiddish bird...

Birds of yesterday and today... hopefully I can get an Ovenbird again so that it can be better quality! Joys of bid photography... you can't always get the best shot, best lighting, nor angle.
