I’m always welcomed at the door with an ear-to-ear smile and a hug. “How have you been?”, she asks, with a genuine anticipation in her voice. An aura of light follows this woman around. We catch-up and giggle at life’s happenings. Her heart and personality and silliness, much the same as mine, and so it feels like coming home. I’m sure it’s both being Sasky-born.
We’ve been dreaming up this evening since the dead of winter. “The hillside will be covered in wild sunflowers,” she tells me, as we sit yearning for spring to come back around. When color makes its way through the hills, the days run warm and long and the creek starts runnin’ again. Though, we couldn’t have painted a better sky in our minds if we tried.
It’s people like these that stir up the goodness that life can sometimes have you forgetting. Quiet proof that honest, pure and good-hearted folks still exist. No tactic or agenda behind their kindness, just genuinity. So when you find these salt-of-the-earth humans, you appreciate ‘em that much more. They’ll feel like a warm breeze after a long winter, coming through your life. Cherish them.
