☕ Country Coffee & Cameras
Coffee (turtle) on a fence post—let’s sip on this a bit.
Have you ever heard the saying “turtle on a fence post”?
Well, this morning, as I saw the beautiful sunrise, I realized that it was time for another Country Coffee & Cameras post. I started with the cup on one of the old trucks, tried a few other places and eventually set it on the fence post.
That saying came to mind...I could finally put into a picture and words what I have been feeling all summer.
But “turtle on a fence post” doesn’t have the meaning I thought it did.🤦♀️🤣
I visualize it kind of like this: if you are a turtle on a fence post, once you’re in that position, you are hooped. But when I asked Google about it...A turtle on a fence post means that a person in a high place did not get there by themselves. Because turtles cannot climb or jump onto posts, someone had to put them there.
Well, in my world, I’m going with: once you’re a turtle on a fence post—you are hooped. You’re stuck with circumstances you can’t necessarily change until the right person, support or circumstance comes along and helps you down.
I am that turtle right now. Right before the beginning of summer break, things went a “little sideways” around here with some personal things. It was okay. I figured summer break was coming up, so I would have more open days to catch up in between the chaos.
Little did I know that the turtle wasn’t just about to start sitting on top of the fence post—it was about to be hurled up there and stuck with super glue.
One thing after another, it seems, has happened throughout this summer. My attention and time has really been pulled away from editing and fulfilling orders. With the last few days of the break looming, and yet another big change happening, feeling like a stuck turtle on a fence post hits HARD!!
To those who have been waiting longer than I ever intended, I truly apologize. You haven’t been forgotten. Your photographs haven’t become less important...Life has simply put me somewhere I didn’t plan on being for a while.
I am still working at things as much as I can. One photo, one order, one day and one fence post at a time.
So, the next time you see a turtle on a fence post—maybe you’ll think like Google and wonder who helped them into a high position...
Or maybe you’ll think about checking to see if that turtle is stuck and could use a little help, a little grace, or a hand getting back down to solid ground.
