What turns a portrait into a story?
Join the Sackville Photography Club on Wednesday, May 20th, as we welcome Halifax photographer Dave Reyno for an inspiring evening focused on environmental portrait photography.
With more than 30 years of professional experience, Dave has built a reputation across Atlantic Canada for creating portraits that feel authentic, natural, and deeply human. From commercial studios in Halifax and Moncton to the fast-paced wedding and portrait industry in Toronto, Dave brings a wealth of real-world knowledge, creativity, and storytelling experience to every image he creates.
Environmental portraits go beyond simply photographing a person — they use light, location, atmosphere, and personality to tell a story within a single frame. Whether it’s an athlete in an arena, an artist in their studio, or a musician backstage, these are the kinds of images that connect with people and leave a lasting impression.
Our meetings are always welcoming, relaxed, and open to photographers of all skill levels — whether you shoot with a professional camera, a beginner setup, or just love photography and want to learn more.
But between us? There’s something about a room full of photographers swapping ideas that always sparks creativity.
(And there’s at least a 73% chance someone leaves the meeting researching new gear before they get home.)
