Hello everyone,

I just thought I’d make a quick little crash course of my understanding of photography.

Photography is an art and has many different genres that professional photographers specialize in. Here are a few examples: weddings, newborn, portrait, landscapes, animals, architecture, micro, fine art, editorial, commercial, etc. Each of these genres, a photographer will find out which one they have a passion for and will establish their style.

So with that being said, if you are looking for a wedding photographer, you will have to explore some options and try to find a photographer that specializes in weddings; or if you’re looking for Newborn photographers, the photographer will be specialized in that, and will have the props, equipment and experience to make the money worth it.

Myself, as the photographer of Dee’s photography, find myself gravitating towards portraits, mostly with controlled lighting, and my sets that I set up.
I have tried to test out other genres, just to see if I would like it, but I prefer to stick to my portraits. Nonetheless, I will pick up different jobs that are in different genres, but I try not to because it isn’t the genre I “specialize” in.
Also, gonna clarify that anyone that calls themselves a photographer, will and can take photos of anything in those genres, but you will be able to tell what they’re more passionate about.

I appreciate and love when someone reaches out for me to do jobs outside of my preferred genre, but I want my clients to get the best possible outcome of their money spent on professional photos; which is why I will decline on certain jobs that I know a different photographer could do a better job at.

Thanks for taking the time to read this long post, I hope this helps give you a bit of an understanding of photography. I didn’t know that there were different kinds of genres in photography before I went to school either.😅

Just a reminder that this is happening today at the Miskooseepi school, free to the graduates❤️🎓🎉

Attention Parents and Guardians of our Kindergarten, Grade 8, 10 and 12 graduates, due to a scheduling conflict, we have had to move the grad portrait session to a new date.

Saturday June 27th

11:00am to 5:00pm

Please keep in mind that this is free for all graduates and their families. So please come down on Saturday to have your photos taken, and don’t forget to smile 😀

I am reaching out to see if there is any interest in an 'elders' photoshoot session in Hollow Water, targeting individuals aged 55 and above. Although the term 'elders' typically refers to those aged 65+, it would be beneficial to capture the band members within this broader age group.

Additionally, I would like to inquire about the potential interest in family photos for band members' families.

If both events get enough interest, they would most likely be free of charge to band members
