First hike of the season really kicked my ass. On the other hand Krsto absolutely kicked ass during the first hike of his life. Never have I seen a dog run up and down a mountain in such a haphazardly gracious manner

Found this abandoned house on an abandoned island turned provincial park.

The journey to get here was just as cool as exploring the space. It was a real impromptu journey as I hopped onto my buddies sailboat as a spot for me opened up last minute. We had to sail for about 15hours in real choppy water, and then we had to divert to our course to Smugglers Cove for the evening as we were having some engine issues. A quick fix later and we are on our way to Jedediah. We were only able to spend a night at Jedediah but it was unforgettable.

The house is a real cool find as it just comes at you out of nowhere and it takes a couple of seconds for you to register it. You're not just imagining it. The last thing you expect while wandering this uninhabited island is to see this relic from the past.

The whole island used to be owned by a couple whom lived there until there passing. There was a bit of shuffling of ownership, but in the end it was decided that the Island was to be sold to the Province of British Columbia as crown land (way under market price), so that it may be turned into a provincial park and have its biodiversity preserved. A unique characteristic of island is it has a herd of goats and sheep roaming the Island. I guess the families that lived there just let them roam freely after they left and since there were no cougars, wolves or any real predators the goats and sheep live there to this day. The island is also full of awestrucking old growth stands of Douglas fir and Arbutus trees.
