As photographers, the moment we arrive somewhere, our brains start working overtime.

We’re looking at the light, the landscape, the little details most people would walk right past. We can already see the photo before we’ve even lifted the camera.

Sometimes we’ll ask you to move a few steps. Turn slightly. Wait one more minute for the light to shift.

Not because we’re being picky.

Because we’re watching everything come together in our minds before it happens in front of the lens.

And then suddenly, there it is.

The light hits exactly right.
The moment unfolds.
Everything clicks.

Sometimes all we need is five minutes and a little trust.

And that’s when the magic happens

The one thing most couples wish they had done differently on their wedding day is slow down

You will plan every single detail of that day. The flowers, the timeline, the seating chart, the song for your first dance. And then the day will arrive and it will move faster than anything you have ever experienced and somewhere between the ceremony and the cake cutting you will look at each other and realize you have barely had a moment alone together.

Build one in. Even 15 minutes. Sneak away from the reception, step outside after the ceremony, find a quiet corner before you walk in. No guests, no photographer, no agenda. Just the two of you, newly married, letting it land.

Some of the most emotional images I capture are in those stolen moments. Not because I am doing anything special but because that is when couples actually feel it. The noise settles, they look at each other, and everything they have been holding all day finally has somewhere to go.

You only get one wedding day. Make sure you actually get to feel it.

Did you get a quiet moment with your partner on your wedding day, or did the day fly by before you knew it? 🤍AskSonnet 4.6

From the moment they said yes to each other, I’ve been there. The engagement session where they were still figuring out how to just be in front of a camera. The wedding day that moved faster than any of us expected. The maternity session where everything was about to change. And now this, the chaos and the cuddles and the completely ordinary Tuesday that somehow means everything.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There is nothing I am more grateful for than getting to show up for the whole story. Not just the highlight reel moments but the in-between ones too. The phases of life that feel so permanent while you’re in them and so fleeting when you look back.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is why I do what I do. Not just to take pretty photos but to hand families something they will hold onto long after this season passes.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’re in a season right now, new baby, growing kids, the beautiful mess of it all, this is your reminder that it’s worth documenting. Not when things calm down. Not when everyone cooperates. Right now, exactly as it is.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What phase of life are you in right now? 🤍

The kind of session that reminds you why you booked one in the first place.

There is something about a couples session that people underestimate until they are actually in it. You show up maybe a little nervous, not really sure what to do with your hands, convinced you are not the kind of people who are good at this. And then twenty minutes in something just shifts. You stop thinking about the camera and you just start being together. And that is when it gets dreamy.

Here is my little tip if you are thinking about booking one. Stop waiting for the perfect moment. You do not need a special occasion, an engagement, a milestone. You just need an afternoon, good light and the person you love most. That is genuinely it.

A couples session is also honestly the best thing you can do before your wedding if you have one coming up. It gets you completely comfortable with me behind the lens before the big day so by the time your wedding comes around it feels like we have done this a hundred times. The difference it makes to your wedding photos is huge.

Golden hour in the Fraser Valley with two people who are madly in love. This is my favourite kind of evening🤍

Your guests will not remember if every detail was perfect. They’ll remember how your day felt.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The laughter.
The energy in the room.
The way you looked at each other when nobody else was watching.
The moments where you actually slowed down long enough to take it all in.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This Valentine’s wedding at Swaneset was full of exactly that. So much love, so much joy, and the kind of atmosphere that reminds you weddings are never about perfection. They’re about connection.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One of the best things you can do on your wedding day is intentionally create space to be present in it. Sneak away together for a few quiet minutes. Soak in the room. Hold hands. Breathe. Those are the moments that stay with you.

You want to plan something for yourself… but maybe you’re not quite sure where to start.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What do you wear?
Where do you go?
What if you feel awkward in front of the camera?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That’s where I come in 🤍
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
From helping you choose the perfect location, to styling dresses from my client closet, to connecting you with incredible hair and makeup artists if you want a little pampering beforehand… I’ll help guide the entire experience.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Then you leave the rest to me.
I’ll find the light, the angles, the movement, and create something beautiful that feels effortless and completely you.

Rainy spring days always remind me of this session 🌧️🤍
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Golden Ears gave us absolutely everything that day, wind, pouring rain, soaked clothes and somehow it only made the whole evening feel more fun, more memorable, and more them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The best sessions aren’t about perfect weather. They’re about letting go, leaning into the moment, and making memories anyway. Honestly, some of the most beautiful moments happen when the plans fall apart a little.

Let’s talk getting ready photos because I get asked about this a lot and I have thoughts.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Some couples add them without really knowing why and some skip them without realizing what they are actually leaving behind. So let me break it down for you honestly.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The getting ready portion of your day, anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes depending on what suits you, is where all the quiet magic lives before everything begins. The final details of your jewelry laid out, your vows folded up sitting on the table, your dress hanging in the light. Your girls around you. Someone doing up your buttons. The moment right before everything changes.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
These are not just pretty photos. They are the exhale before the day takes off. The last few minutes of just being you before you walk out and become someone’s wife.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My personal opinion? It is one of the most worth it parts of the day to document. Not because it looks beautiful in your gallery (though it does) but because you will never get that morning back. That specific, unrepeatable, full of nerves and excitement and love morning.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you are on the fence about whether to include it, my honest answer is always yes. Even just 30 minutes. You will not regret it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Was getting ready coverage part of your wedding day or did you skip it? And if you skipped it, do you wish you hadn’t? I am curious 👇🏻

If The Hart House has been on your venue shortlist, let this be the sign you needed.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I got to spend the most beautiful day here alongside the incredibly talented
and it reminds me why I love this venue! The light, the grounds, the absolute magic that happens when a venue just gets it right. This place does something to a wedding day.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you are planning your 2026 wedding I still have a few prime dates available and I would love to be your photographer. 2027 books are officially open too and honestly filling faster than I expected so if you have a date in mind, now is the time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
No pressure, just a genuine invitation. Send me a DM or tap the link in my bio and let’s talk about your day 🤍
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have you been to The Hart House before? It is even more beautiful in person.
