"Darren and I are expecting a baby girl... I’ve been thinking back and forth about what we want to do... We would love to document this new chapter in some way, and my considerations are around: I don’t want a traditional newborn photoshoot (which is why we love you!), I want to document this new chapter including myself and Darren, I want to look and feel like a human and not a disheveled mess".
It's been seven years since Tammy, Darren, and I first met for their wedding. Tammy reminded me that I was pregnant with my firstborn when I photographed their wedding. Over the years, our paths crossed a couple of times – once at Ikea and another at their friend Denise's wedding during the pandemic in 2020. A lot has happened in these seven years, to say the least. Tammy and Darren are the kind of couple that leaves you with a great impression. Finding the right adjectives is challenging, but a few things that come to mind when I think of them are that they married young, they both seem extroverted yet quietly withdrew from social media, and although they're not particularly talkative, conversations with them have always felt effortless.
Have you ever met people in your life whom you can't really call friends, yet you feel connected to? Tammy and Darren are those kinds of clients to me.
I felt honored to capture baby Robyn's day-in-the-life newborn photos, knowing they will serve as precious reminders for Tammy and Darren of this special time in their lives.
