I’ve long admired the very talented painter, Heather Pant. We have purchased a couple of her works over the years.

She asked if she could paint one of my photos of Brady’s Beach, Bamfield.

Of course I was honored and she’s auctioning off this beautiful piece today.

A cold and blustery winters day in Sooke on Vancouver Island. These three photos were not taken this weekend, but it sure feels like it could have been.

"Stuck" inside as I'm too weak to get blown over (read too weak to go out and get cold today) so I've taken some time to re-edit some of my favourite images of past.

I remember this early morning day and standing on the Mariner's Village property. This was, by far, the most intense sunrise I have yet to experience in the seaside community of Sooke.

The cloud formations were unique and the colours so bold as the sun came up over East Sooke.

It's Friday, I hope your weekend is as brilliant as this sunrise!

There was a little pull-off on the north side of Roche Cove before the upgraded bridge was built. I used to work in East Sooke and many mornings I'd stop at this location and capture some of my best sunrise work. This day was no exception.

Bonus, you could face west and were equally fortunate to have an amazing vantage point of Sooke Basin and Saseenos.

Early morning aerial sunrise, Sooke, Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

The last of a three part series of early morning aerial photos taken near Billings Spit and the Sooke River last Friday. As the sun rose over East Sooke, the sky lit up in hues of oranges and blues.

Early morning sunrise over Sooke Harbour and Basin, Vancouver Island. Amazing blue and oranges covered the entire sky as the small seaside community of Sooke was just starting to wake up. The sun was peaking over East Sooke, the calm before the storm.

Below, Billing Spit juts out marking the geographical separation between Harbour and Basin while the mighty Sooke River coming from the Sooke Hill spills into the ocean.

Both photos were taken on Friday.

Early morning fog over the seaside town of Sooke and the Sooke River.

All the lights in the distance are the homes in Sunriver Estates.

Tucked below the fog is the Sooke River bridge and all the early morning commuters making their way to their jobs.

Took an early morning flight from Billing Spit to capture the sunrise. A lovely display of low lying fog patches nestled into the hills around Sooke. A rainbow was visible from the west side of Sooke to greet the early morning risers. A great start to the weekend.
