Tomorrow is a pretty big day for me.

After waiting almost a year, I’m finally having surgery to correct my strabismus, something I’ve struggled with for my entire life.

I actually had surgery twice as a child, but despite that, I still spend a huge part of my day consciously correcting my eyes. It’s something most people probably don’t realize because I’ve become so used to compensating for it, but it affects so much more of my life than just what you see.

My eyes get tired incredibly easily, I deal with headaches and eye strain, and constantly having to consciously correct my eyes is exhausting. It affects my personal life, my work, my confidence, and honestly, the way I see myself.

I’ve spent most of my life accepting that this is just how my eyes work and learning to work around it. So having the opportunity to try again, almost a year after being put on the waitlist, feels really significant to me.

And somehow, a last minute surgical opening came up and the timing worked out to my only non wedding weekend lol

As a photographer, my eyes are obviously a pretty important part of what I do. I spend so much of my life behind a camera and in front of a computer, so I’m genuinely hopeful that this will make a huge difference, not only in my work, but in my everyday life too.

For the next couple of weeks, I’ll have limited access to my phone, emails and messages while I recover. I’ll be taking at least 3–5 full days away from my computer so I don’t strain my eyes or push my recovery, and then I’ll slowly start working on galleries again as my eyes allow.

Because of that, galleries will unfortunately be delayed a little bit during my recovery. I really appreciate your patience and understanding while I give my eyes the time they need. I’ll be working through everything as soon as I’m able and will keep things moving as my recovery allows.

Any clients whose sessions are affected by my recovery have already been contacted directly to reschedule.

I’m nervous, but more than anything, I’m really hopeful. I can’t wait to see what life feels like when I’m not constantly thinking about my eyes, managing them, correcting them, or working around them.

And maybe, after all of this, I’ll finally feel confident enough to get some branding photos taken of the person who is always behind the camera.

I’ll miss being behind the camera and seeing all of your faces, and I genuinely cannot wait to be back with everyone. Until then, I’m going to take the time I need to heal properly and come back ready to do what I love. 🤍

Ahhhh!! Truly one of those days that just felt as beautiful as it looked. Their wedding at the Greenhouse was incredible . Like, beginning of the season greenhouse magic. The weather was doing what Nova Scotia weather does best which is, absolutely whatever the heck it wants lol, so we had to move their ceremony inside, but honestly? It didn’t take a single thing away from the day.

We started with a first look and their private vows, and I’m not even going to pretend I didn’t tear up right along with them!!

But my favourite part of their wedding wasn’t the flowers or the greenhouse or all the pretty little details.

It was the way they thought about their people.

Chantal knew that not everyone has family photos. So she wanted every single family and couple there to leave with a photo of themselves from the day. Not just a favour. Not just something cute. A memory.

So in between everything else happening, we pulled people aside and gave them their own little session, a little moment to feel appreciated and noticed. And I swear, watching everyone get excited about having a beautiful photo with their people was one of my favourite parts of the entire day.

Because THAT is what a wedding is supposed to be about.

The people you love. The memories you make. The people you get to bring along with you.

Also….my girl MADE HER OWN CAKE. And it was freaking gorgeous. Because apparently being a bride wasn’t enough and she needed to casually add baker to the resume too!!!

The flowers were perfect. The greenhouse was dreamy. The weather was chaotic. The day was full of so much love.

But mostly, Chantal and Jeff were just so damn happy to be married.

And honestly, I think that’s the best kind of wedding there is. 🤍

Told you I’d be back with more than one image from this session.

The Public Gardens have quietly become one of my favourite places to shoot this season, and I get why. P + T are planning to get married beneath a willow tree, so it only felt right to start this chapter there too.

It was the middle of a heat wave. We were all melting, surviving off a handheld fan and blind optimism. Somehow, you’d never know.

P + T, the way you move together feels effortless. So much joy, so much ease. This gallery is one of those that was painfully hard to narrow down, but these felt like the right place to start.
