As a recovering perfectionist, I spent much of my younger years being afraid of making mistakes and being judged for them.
As a result, I under-expressed myself across all channels of communication: nonverbal, vocal, and verbal.
I was so focused on not saying or doing the wrong thing that I often failed to communicate what I actually felt.
People would sometimes tell me I looked bothered or unapproachable, when that was never my intention at all.
Before starting my Photography business, I was a Respiratory Therapist. It was a highly skill-based, competence-driven career where most of my patients were intubated. Building connection through conversation, reading social dynamics, or understanding the subtle nuances of human behavior simply wasn't a requirement of the role.
When I started my photography business 10 years ago, everything changed.
I quickly realized that if I wanted to connect with people, put them at ease, and truly understand them, I needed to learn how to read what wasn't being said. I became fascinated by body language, nonverbal communication, first impressions, and the invisible signals we are constantly sending to one another.
What started as a business skill became a personal transformation.
Learning how to better express myself and better understand others has changed the way I communicate, build relationships, parent, lead, teach, and move through the world.
I'm incredibly excited to share this work with people who are curious about it because the impact extends far beyond professional success. It changes how you experience yourself and how others experience you too.
1 spot left for my upcoming workshop, The Trust Advantage - how to be experience as warm and capable. ❤️
