CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?

A Crested Caracara in a field along the Northside Road in East Point.
The second record of this species on PEI. May 22, 2026.

The northern range for the Caracara is central Florida. It hangs out there and southward through Central and Southern America.
Such a treat to see this bird today....hopefully it will stay around for a bit so others can see it!

Thanks to the Cheveries and Melanie McCarthy for giving me the Tip!

Black-throated Green Warbler at Valleyfield on May 5, 2026.

Warblers are extremely hungry and often exhausted when they return to northern woodlands, as they have just completed a migration of thousands of miles. This species winters primarily in Central America. They arrive needing to immediately replenish fat reserves and rebuild muscle. They are insect lovers and can also feed on new fleshy vegetation!
