A little behind‑the‑scenes update from Picture This!

Our picture editor, Catherine Legault (aka Kate), and assistant editor Emilio Ruiloba Roy are hard at work shaping our newest documentary, coming out this fall. Kate is artfully weaving together the visual and narrative threads, while Emilio keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

We're so fortunate to have this dedicated, talented team shaping this film. Can't wait to share more in the coming months!

In the spirit of International Women’s Day, we’re featuring the amazingly talented team on our in-production documentary.

It’s important to keep an eye on the stats: in documentary, women now make up 1/5 of sound recordists,  1/3 of editors , 1/4 of DPs, and nearly 1/2 of directors. Not yet gender parity but the needle is moving. That said, our counterparts working in fiction film and TV still have a far longer ways to go.  Proud of this team, including , and all the inspiring women in diverse roles crafting stories across the film and TV industry.

Seeing Joshua reshare these photos is a lovely reminder of what made Warrior Up! so special, and why it earned the CMF Kids Choice Award. The youth featured in the series are still out there doing incredible work, and we're still so proud of the work our hosts and our team put into every episode.

What a whirlwind few weeks! Our team traded the Montreal cold for some Texas and California sunshine to film new for a documentary coming to CBC this fall. While we can't reveal too much yet, we can say that the people we met and the stories they shared left us moved and inspired. So grateful for this crew and for all the generous participants who welcomed us along the way!

We’re heartbroken to share that our beloved office dog, Queenie passed away this week.

Queenie moved with us through three different office spaces, sat through countless script rewrites, late night edits, and more tea breaks than we could ever count. Many of you who interned with us, worked with us, or visited our offices over the years will remember he : greeting people at the door, trying to scare away the postal carrier, curling up beside stressed out editors, or wandering into meetings as if she owned the place.
She was part of the spirit that made our workspace feel like home.
We’ll miss her deeply, but we’re grateful for every year Queenie spent by our side and the joy she brought into our little creative world.

Behind the scenes at The Landon Pearson Resource Centre as we filmed during their National Child Day celebration 🎉 The day marked the launch of the new edition of the Canadian Journal of Children’s Rights and honoured Sheldon Kennedy with the Cherry Kingsley Award for his incredible work in child protection and preventing child sexual exploitation.
We also had the chance to interview Stefania Maggi, the Centre’s interim director, and share a birthday cake in honour of the late Landon Pearson — the Centre’s powerful and tireless founder.
An inspiring day celebrating children’s rights and the people who dedicate their lives to protecting them! Carleton University (Official)

Our co-founder Maureen Marovitch, had a great time speaking with the impressive 2025 Mentorship cohort about ethics and research in documentary production. She joined Cynthia Knight, who led the session on fiction film writing. What a fun experience, and we’re excited to see what this talented group creates in the years ahead!
