The discipline of film and the self portrait

I recently found this old 8x10 print in my college portfolio case. Shot on bxw negative film back in the 1980s. The school project was to shoot a self portrait on negative film and produce a print in the darkroom. This assignment forced me to look at self-portraiture through a totally different creative lens.

Do you still appreciate old-school film grain?
