this past weekend my babe and I went on a backcountry camping trip to celebrate a year of being together✨
We left early-ish Friday morning and paddled to the first lake, where all the sites were full. After a few hiccups we had to decide - go back, or keep going. We both decided to keep going💪🏽 after getting to the next portage spot we made it through and we’re so stoked for what we were going to find. Until we got to a 300m creek that was DRY. We ended up taking a break there for the night, to make dinner and enjoy a little fire as the sun went down. We woke up the next morning, had our bacon and eggs and kept going for the next lake. Now, this doesn’t sound bad as I type this but let me tell you, we struggled. we learned. we cried, a lot. we laughed. and most importantly we didn’t give up. I’m so proud of us. About 2 hours into saturday we made it to an empty campsite with the most gorgeous view.🥺 as the day went on we swam in the lake together, made pizza on the fire, explored and I watched Ben fish a lot😂
Sunday came around and it literally poured for almost 24 hours straight. Anytime we heard it calm down we ran out of the tent to soak in every moment we could get. Monday was the trek back and we did it faster than we thought we could (yay!)
I’m seriously so, so proud of us. We had almost every obstacle thrown at us and we handled it with grace + determination to get us where we needed to be, and it was soo worth it🧡✨
I brought a disposable camera with me and still have to get the photos developed but I am so so excited to see them + share all our ups + downs from our first portage together. stay tuned🌞📷
