MULTI-FAMILY PHOTO SESSIONS - EXCLUSIVE FOR PAST MINIS FAMILIES

Here are the details:

This special session is designed exclusively for returning clients of my annual Fall–Winter Minis, offered in place of minis this year.

The Multi-Family Session is a shared one-hour experience at a single location, ideal for up to four families. Each family will enjoy a portion of the session, with the understanding that the time (and resulting number of images) is divided according to how long they use during the hour.

Unlike a traditional full family session, this format is perfect for families who want updated portraits without the commitment of a full album. It’s a flexible and collaborative option—your family gets its turn in front of the camera while also benefiting from a fun, community-style session alongside others.

-One-hour total session time (shared)
-Up to four families per session

MINIS UPDATE – SWITCHING GEARS

Crew,

I’m writing this with some seriously mixed emotions.

Minis have always been my way of giving something back to Muskoka—affordable, beautiful photos so every family could enjoy professional photography. I know photography has turned into a luxury, and I just don't think it should be that way.

Over the years, they’ve become one of my favourite traditions - long days, cold hands, hot tea, so many laughs. Watching you and your kids get older has been such an incredible honour and pleasure to me.

This year, things look a little different. Location rental fees and insurance requirements have climbed so high that I can’t continue Minis in the same way. As much as I love them, the heavy costs and time commitment simply aren’t sustainable.

I'm not hanging you out to dry just yet, sweet Minis Fam. So here are the two options I’ve lined up for you:

Option 1 – Multi-Family Session
Exclusive to my Minis families. Team up with up to four families, pick the location (even your backyard!), and share a one-hour session however you like. It’s an affordable, flexible way to keep the Minis spirit alive.

** I’ll be making a follow-up post within 24 hours with all the details on how to book, pricing, and what to expect, as well as emailing all past mini's families with the details and coupon codes. **

Option 2 – Katlin Garbutt Photography ()
My dear friend Katlin—who has been my right-hand at so many weddings—will be running Minis in Orillia this November. Her style is very similar to mine, and she’s just as nice (though still working on being as funny 😉).

And of course, I’m still offering full one-hour sessions if you’d prefer a traditional shoot.

Kids - Let's talk about it.

I can promise you that in a 1 hour session where kids are involved, we are going to spend half that time actually taking pictures.

The rest of the time, we will be hunting for crawfish, playing "round and round the garden", looking for mushrooms, making silly faces, throwing rocks and building trust.

Parents, I feel you. I have kids too. I know they don't behave when you need them to, and an hour feels short when you are trying to get them to smile at a big, black, scary looking box held by a complete stranger just a few feet from their face.

What I also know is kids feed off of chaos. Your stress stresses them out. It sends them into a tail spin, that can be unrecoverable.

Let me lead the session. Don't expect supermodels out of terrorists. I have methods, but you have to let go of the reigns, and let me do my thing!

There are very few scenarios that I cannot turn around by giving a little one just a little bit of time, some conversation, finding a currency for their cooperation, make a connection and then get the job done.

I'm not in a rush, you shouldn't be either!

Come ready to smile, but leave your expectations for total, uncomplicated cooperation from the little people at home.
