Several weeks ago, I went on a little walk up the road behind my house. I was looking for the last of the Purple Camas and the Lotus Pinnatus as someone once told me where I could find some on that road. I never found any but there were Lupines en masse so I sought a batch and started photographing.

Then I found this snail - or at least she shell (no snail was ever seen) but seemed like a unique find on a lupine! I am happy I ventured off to that specific patch to capture something different! 🐌

While most hellebores have come and gone, I am happy to have some lingering pics in my collection to share. Such a pretty flower! Have you ever seen these before?

And now the temps have dropped a touch reminding me of the “cooler” days on our Euro trip last Fall making it a perfect time to share this last batch. It took me a while to get through them all but about 9 months later, these are the last of the Ireland pics I have to share and they’re all from the Cliffs of Moher!

I keep saying I need to invest in a true macro lens but delaying because the funds just aren’t there right now.

When my friend came for a visit last month, she let me borrow her Canon 100mm for a little test drive. Well, I fell in love! 😅 I have a few more pics to share using her lens but thought I would start with daisies because they represent new beginnings…so now I am working hard at manifesting a new lens! 🤣

The hot weather we had in Nanaimo over the last several days almost reminded me of Curaçao weather...almost (but not quite, Curaçao is HOT!) The weather has cooled down quite a bit but since it was on my mind, I thought I’d share a few lingering photos from my collection that haven’t seen the light of day yet! 🦩

What I thought were Alberta Wild Roses in these photos, they might actually all be Nootka Roses; a hardy native shrub of western North America, known for its fragrant pink blooms, bright red rose hips, and value to wildlife. It is named after Nootka Sound right here on Vancouver Island!

I found it - the rare and elusive Lotus pinnatus! 🤩

This striking flower is found in only a handful of locations worldwide. In British Columbia, it’s known from just five sites on the south coast, all located in or around the Nanaimo area. Beyond BC, it can also be found in parts of Oregon and California so it was pretty exciting to find the little patch. The lighting conditions were harsh when I found it but hoping to return in the evening next week for different light! ✨

I also experimented with a new technique I recently discovered from .rando which is using a simple Ziploc bag around the lens to create this soft, dreamy vignette effect.

Did you notice the dreamy vignette?
