Well, it was nice to finally get out and say hello to the Aurora again! 💚🌌 And while last night’s show was a little on the quiet side, it had a pretty cool bonus… proton aurora! 🤩

That green blob above the regular Aurora is proton aurora, caused by charged protons from the solar wind interacting with Earth’s atmosphere.

The regular Aurora is mainly caused by charged electrons interacting with the atmosphere, creating those familiar dancing curtains and rays.

So, basically: protons = blobs, electrons = dancing lights. 😂

Well, it was nice to finally get out and say hello to the Aurora again! 💚🌌 And while last night’s show was a little on the quiet side, it had a pretty cool bonus… proton aurora! 🤩

Meet my new friend, Sam the Sea Otter. 🦦🥹
(Yes I named him)

I mean JUST LOOK AT THIS FACE!!! How am I supposed to see something this adorable and NOT want to pet him, cuddle him or take him home?! 🤷🏼‍♀️

But noooo, Linden advises wild sea otters are NOT the same as adorable fuzzy Disney characters and I could not touch him 🙄☹️

Fine. No otters were stuffed into my purse on this trip. 😂🦦❤️
