Back from the Central Coast with an elite crew. This episode was part Beachcombers, part Lord of the Flies, and all BBC! A trip that was a little bit different than usual, it still had all the key ingredients of a fantastic coastal foray and then some, including awesome parent-kid dynamics, unreal kid-kid dynamics, fun parent-parent dynamics and of course, culinary delights! Mother Nature put on quite a show throughout. Still unpacking the mind and the truck from this one. British Columbia Magazine

While this winter had its share of crusty moments, it was skiing with my family and some other crew that made it a memorable one: rain, snow or sunshine. I might still get in some spring skiing but in the meantime I want to acknowledge that this sport is truly the pastime that fills my cup- more than skating, more than looking at birds and more than any other mountain sport. Bottom line: it's so much frickin' fun! From an annual multi-family family hut trip (the Shute clan), to an Austrian photo shoot (with a couple of Andrews), to local weekend jaunts (Casey and Fletch mostly), these moments have shone through. We're so lucky to have just up the hill too, celebrating 50 years this week. I'm happy to have skied for at least half of them and can't wait for many more.

Warm-up on Lake Windermere this am. Fletch and I made a quick stopover on the way up to Fort Saskatchewan for a game tonight- a true Hockey Day in Canada for us and a great way to kick off family weekend together. To top it off, his team took down Montana 9-8.

After thirty years of beer league hockey tonight's 0-0 tie was a first for me. Ice was tilted so it felt like a win. Team is gelling. Goalie stood on his head. Beers were cold. Basement team reborn and so far undefeated in playoffs. I'm proud to be part of this Warriors squad- an amazing tribe of humans, none of whom are afraid to go to the dirty areas, in the corners, or even away to Mexico just when we need them. The best part about an already fulfilling night? My son left a bowl of late-night Vector for me out on the counter! .ca
