Hey Everyone !! Man, I know I have been Insanley slacking on my page, but soo many amazing changes have happend in my life. As a self taught Photographer since 2013, I met so many amazing loving people...Improving my skills.
In the last year now, I have been busy with a new side Job for being a self Advocate for FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder). Im sure many of you probably had no clue im an Individual on the spectrum. Photography and Art has been a huge part of my strengths with this disability..and I have been honoured to show it to everyone that have loved my work!
In September of this year, I celebrated FASD Awareness month for the first time and FASD Awarness day (September 9th)... and I was Diagnosed in my mid teens and Im 28 today. On Sep.9th, I finally took out my Nikon Z5 to Vancouver to take shots of BC Place lit up Red for FASD Day! It was amazing, emotional...yet not many people knew why it was lit red on this specific day. (figures).
FASD Is the #1 leading neurodevelopmental disability in the world...its more common than Autism, Cerebral Palsy and Down Syndrome combined. 4% of Canadians are on the spectrum! For over 50 years now, its still the most underfunded, stigmatized and not talked about enough! and there is lack of education in many areas.. such as the education, medical and justice systems. Many of us are discriminated, misunderstood and shamed and blamed because they do not understand the disability as a whole.
I have done many interviews now, and started my own support group to provide Adults on the spectrum to make new friends, be heard, relate, network and even provide advocacy Ideas. I will be even starting up my own Podcast with my amazing BF in the upcoming year! Sharing my life story was a hard start to the public, but VERY quickly I was accepted like no tomorrow and my life has completely CHANGED further! Thanks to the FASD Community for everything.
My photography is still ongoing, But it will be back and forth as my work has been growing, I start a new workshop tomorrow on Zoom once a month to provide Parents insight and education. While my support groups run every Saturday..im also apart of another group every Thursday.
Photography has also been my life for the past 10 years now and it always will! if you have still stuck around, thank you! I will do my best to post as much as I can from here on out.
