Hi All, here is another deep sky image shot from my Windows Vista powered front yard observatory 😅. This image of IC405 Flaming Star Nebula is a relatively bright emission and reflection nebula found in the constellation Auriga. Auriga has so many interesting objects and is one of my favourites next to Cepheus and Orion. When I started to image this, I knew that my clear sky days would be numbered as we head into winter. I was right, and this is part of the reason why I didn't acquire as much data as I would have liked. Anyway, hope you like this rendition.

Hi all, I never thought that in my lifetime I would ever have an asteroid with my name on it. "53258 Kerryannlecky (1999 FN)" Discovery: 1999-03-17 / ODAS / Caussols / 910. It's 4.3 km across and way out in the asteroid belt beyond the orbit of Mars, so no threat to Earth 😅. Seriously, I'm feeling so honoured!! Here are some links to more info about it..

I'm so grateful to Alain and Yuri for nominating me.... A huge huge thanks goes to them!!! Alain Maury and his team members discovered this and countless asteroids. He has a lodge in San Pedro de Atacama www.spaceobs.com where he hosts many of us keen astronomers and astrophotographers who want to experience the night sky down in Chile's Atacama Desert. Yuri Beletsky, most of you know, is a famous astrophotogapher and professional astronomer who works at one of the large observatories in Chile. www.instagram.com/yuribeletsky

On our first night in Uyuni, Bolivia, debbie.dill.photo braved the cold night in her red dress so that we could take pictures of her under the southern hemisphere stars in the largest salt flat in the world. Can you believe this is at 12000 ft and not a mountain in sight?

After a spectacular sunset on the salt flats in Uyuni, Bolivia last March, we all couldn't wait for it to get dark so we could start taking pictures of the Southern hemisphere nights sky. I took this picture of the beautiful Sabrina Wolters just before it got fully dark. You can see part of the Milky Way appear and some of the bright stars reflecting in the shallow waters.

Hi Everyone!
I'm super excited to announce an 11-day/10-night once-in-a-lifetime astro tour dedicated to capturing the Southern Hemisphere night sky in the Chilean Atacama Desert, the Bolivian high desert (Altiplano) and in the beautiful reflective flooded salt flats of Uyuni. The tour begins on April 23rd and ends on May 3rd 2025. We have 10 spots available for this amazing adventure led by myself and award-winning astronomy photographer Petr Horálek Photography

Join us whether you are an experienced photographer or someone who is just enthusiastic to witness breathtaking sights in places not many people have gone.
Read all the details here & message me if you would like to join us!

Here is a cool looking dusty part of the night sky designated as LDN 1251 in the constellation Cepheus with a tiny galaxy sitting at the top designated as PGC69472. I have been imaging it for over a year from my relatively light polluted front yard. I am now in the red zone on the light pollution map (thanks to all the new light polluting green houses and more development in Grimsby), with my SQM readings sitting around 19.8 on average. My first run at processing it was with around 6 hrs of luminance data, and the result was terrible. I then had an amazing stretch of clear skies to collect more data a couple of months ago, and was able to get up to 14 hrs of data. Anyway, I hope you like it and for those of you with light pollution like me, don't give up on broad band deep sky imaging of dark targets like this as it's still rewarding, even though it's a bit more work.
I'm still running a very old school setup powered by Windows Vista.

This picture shows my last time out under the stars looking for comet Tsuchinshan ATLAS. What a marathon it has been. Thanks ☄️ for dropping by. It's now getting further away from Earth and is not as spectacular but I'm not sad because there are always new comets and astronomical events to look forward to.

What a nice surprise to get to see the beautiful northern lights again Sunday night/early Monday morning. I framed the shot to include my out of control 😆. This display around this time was actually bright enough that I was able to make out the colours. Sooo very cool!!!
