Went undercover as a client recently and came away with some notes, as well as a refreshed perspective from the other side of the lens.

A couple notes:
1. It can be a little nerve-wracking being in front of a photographer
2. It is a process (trust it)
3. It can go from nerve-wracking to exciting in about two minutes.

After five years behind the lens, I can confidently say that my capacity to support branding photography clients is consistently growing and ever-evolving.

I always say "thank you for trusting me to capture your images," but my goodness, thank you for trusting me to capture your images. 🥹❤️

Sometimes the words FLOW and other times I find myself asking clients if they can "remove their excess arm."

Excuse me, what?

I'm not sure either. But we did get some pretty genuine smiles in the photos that followed.

Photographers are usually calculating about a hundred things at once -lighting, camera settings, composition, expressions, body language, and yes, arm placement.
Sometimes the thought-to-word translation doesnt quite line up.

Anyway, the excess arm was successfully "removed."

.niverville is Niverville's new (and only) indoor cycling studio.
These are some of the women who now bring the energy to the spin and barre classes offered in their brand new facility.

Earlier this winter, they brought the bike, the gear, and that same energy up to my studio so we could capture the team in all of its parts.
Thanks to everyone at Atelier Cycle+ for making the trip, I had so much fun with this shoot and everyone that came out!

Before & After ✨️

And I love watching an image turn into a cover for a song.

Photography can sometimes look and feel like a solo gig, but it’s deeply collaborative.

Brady approached this shoot with a strong idea of what he was looking for. From there, it became about how we’d bring it to life, what mood to lean into and what we’d layer in during editing.

Not everyone walks in with a high level of clarity, and they don’t need to. Every client comes to a project with a different relationship to their own creativity.

Whether you have a full-fledged plan or something more seed-like, maybe just a feeling, you’re equally part of the outcome.
Showing up honestly is the beginning.
Then we cook.

Trust the process:

The sourdough starter.
Building a business.
Mastering a craft.
Planning the shoot.

This bread isn’t built in a day and neither was this session.

Maria and Chris are masterful at what they do at . Their schedule runs with precision, so our planning had to match their pace.

Thanks to Maria, Chris, their awesome crew, and their website-designer extraordinaire, jill-of-all-trades .ca we packed a full story into a busy bakery morning by quite meticulously planning ahead.

Jenni helped to create a shot list based on the new website she was building for them, noting gaps she noticed in their image assets. Once we were done she was able to begin applying the images and their new site looks *so good*.

The process is the story and, in this case, happens to have a delicious ending. Look at that bread. 🤤

In-home newborn sessions, baby toes and well-placed mirrors —these are a few of my favourite things.

This winter was particularly meaningful, with two newborn families inviting me back to capture their new additions.

Whether it’s a first baby or a fourth, no two chapters look the same.
This one happened to include the Very Cranky Bear who, for a cranky bear, really brought a calming energy to the room.

A walk in the park with a few raindrops (slide 4🤭) !

No two family sessions are ever quite the same. These sessions are not about rinsing and repeating a set choreographed shot list, they're about meeting each family where they are at in this moment in time. I want to nail the expected shot lists, of course, but how we get there often differs.
There are infinite variables to a family shoot and I think that's where the magic lies.

Slide 2 is just the most precious candid moment and slide 6 came from, "can you sit up nice and tall? ....like a tree?" 🥹💕🫶
