Last weekend, I had the opportunity to be part of the first Social Skate Summit not only as a participant, but also as a speaker on the panel, “From Passion to Profession: Building a Sustainable Social Skate Career.”
It was inspiring to be surrounded by so many people and organizations who care deeply about skateboarding, inclusion, and accessibility. We spoke openly about the challenges that come with building a career in this space, but also about how rewarding the journey can be.
Beyond my work as a photographer, I was also proud to represent U Can Skate alongside my fellow co-founders, Veronica Zamudio and Belen Guzman. Traveling together and sharing the work we do through our Mexican non-profit where we teach Indigenous girls in Mexico how to skateboard and create opportunities through skateboarding made this experience so meaningful.
Grateful for everyone who made this event possible and for all the conversations, ideas, and connections that came out of it.
