Somewhere between a global pandemic, becoming a mother, working (almost) full time, navigating grief, and unlearning the capitalistic values that attach my worth to productivity… I’ve come to realize that maybe I (or we?) need less “hustling”. I’m increasingly aware of how precious and fleeting time is and I don’t want to spend it all working. Maybe it’s ok that taking photos and graphic design is more of a hobby (which on a good day helps offset the costs of the programs and gears I use).

So clients have been few and far between. And when I do take on projects it’s with an understanding that timelines and customer service are not what I’d like them to be…that’s the cost of working when babes are asleep and 9-5s haven’t drained all my energy. But in the past year, 5 organizations in my home community approached me about re-designing logos and I knew I couldn’t say no. I felt like the right person for those jobs. So shout out to the people who share my name in rooms and the orgs. that have give me grace to do the work in between the juggling act that is life.

Had fun designing E & J Live Bait’s new logo!

Happy Easter everyone!!

With the 2021-2022 fishing season closed, we thought it was time to revamp our logo.

We would like to give a HUGE thank you to Janique from Janique Fortier Photo & Design for creating and designing our amazing new logo!

As well, we would like to thank everyone for the great season we had. We surpassed our last year minnow sales by a substantial amount and we couldn’t have to that without all you! So thank you again for your continued support and we will see you for the 2022-2023 fishing season!

Witnessing Talia’s birth, like her sisters’, is an honour and privilege I will never take for granted. Having recently given birth myself and having Brianne join us for part of it, those feelings are even stronger. In a year filled with grief, sacrifices, and moments unshared, Talia’s birth was such an important reminder of the beauty, the joy, the love, and the hope that remains.

In celebration, I’ve shared her birth story (from my perspective) on my website: https://janiquefortier.wixsite.com/home/talia-birthstory

**ANNOUNCEMENT**

I’ve made the tough decision that starting in November I will temporarily suspend booking photo clients. With the state of COVID in our province and flu season and winter around the corner, this is what’s best for the health and safety of my family and loved ones right now. But it’s not a decision I make lightly.

Thank you to everyone that has supported me this past year! 2020 was the first year where I made the jump to shooting documentary photography exclusively. Every time I was able to photograph you this year...I knew that I made the right decision to align with my purpose. What a privilege to capture humanity! For those of you who followed along and trusted me through that process... thank you. I look forward to photographing you again in the future!

This is only a temporary pause as we navigate through these strange times. In the mean time, I look forward to catching up on sharing some of the many photos I’ve taken over the past few years.

While I’m here, just a quick PSA: Don’t forget to get your flu shots! Talk to your public health nurse, primary care provider or pharmacist to find out when and where you can get yours!
