On bright days at Dunville’s shoreline, the Mohawk Island Lighthouse looks almost serene against the sparkling water...but don’t let the sunshine fool you.

The Mohawk Island Lighthouse, built in 1848, once guided ships through the shallow, treacherous waters of Lake Erie. Now abandoned and only reachable by boat or kayak, it's a haunting symbol of Canada's maritime past. Rumor has it, some sailors believed the island was cursed but maybe that’s just the fog talking.

Thank god I have 200mm with me. I wouldn't swim there to get this shot. Not when I'm not sure whether it's just the wind, or something else still keeping watch?

This panoramic shot of Garibaldi Lake was The Crown Jewel of my brutal day hike and was earned the hard way (31km, 1800m elevation gain, 9.5 hours on foot with camera gear strapped to my back). Panorama Ridge is known to be one of BC’s toughest day hikes, and it broke me in all the best ways. Every step hurt, but this view? Absolutely worth it.
