This one, called Focus, brings to mind mental toughness. I think one of the hardest things in life is to block out the noise (I’m terrible at it). It doesn’t matter if you are an athlete, an artist or a business owner. Mental toughness is a skill that needs to be developed just as much as any other skill.

Focus - Block out the noise. Still the mind. Fix your eyes on what matters and let everything else fall gently into the background.

Tonight marks the kickoff to the World Professional Chuckwagon Association season at the Grande Prairie Stompede.

Dayton Sutherland Chuckwagon Racing Team lines up tonight as a third generation driver, carrying on the legacy his Grandpa Kelly started and his dad (Mark Sutherland Chuckwagon Team) carried on.

Looking through my photos it showed how much has changed and how much has stayed the same. Different decades, different faces, but the same love for the horses and the sport.

A couple of nights ago, Dayton sent me a video of Vlad eating his supper. He was sold to our cousin Mitch when we retired. It made me smile and made me think of Legend and all the others we were blessed to work with. I wish we could have kept those two but they still had fire in them and deserved to race.

I always said Vlad was a rockstar and he knew it. Centre stage and completely aware of it, he is a horse who was born for the spotlight.

On a cold and dreary day Baby Blue seemed appropriate to share.

It’s easy to feel blah on a day like this but don’t! Use it to get that indoor renovation going. Use it to get that paperwork done. Use it to wrap yourself in a warm blanket with a bowl of popcorn and watch that movie you have been wanting to watch.

A Moment in Stillness- Get close enough and you will find that horses have a way of slowing everything down.

I think this is why horses were so good for me. I am also blessed to have a husband that has taught me to stop and appreciate the little things. Life moves too fast, take the time.

You know how people always ask you what famous person you would want to have supper with….. mine would be two horses, Secretariat and Sergeant Reckless. I would have loved to hang with them.

I had to edit this to include Scamper! How could I forget him.
