Just south of Vernon, British Columbia, you will find two lakes. A small pinion of land separates the two, with Kalamalka Lake glowing a brilliant shade of turquoise, while Wood lake runs a more dense, darker shade. Both lakes are iconic and excellent for fishing and leisure sports. The highway runs alongside the lakes, making them also highly accessible.

While the devastating wildfires in Alberta and BC continue to wreak havoc, one of the more mundane impacts of all that smoke is to obstruct the spectacular views. As a photographer, I didn't know if I would have the opportunity to see the spectacle that is Lake Louise, Alberta, but it was my great privilege to squeeze in a visit on a day where the smoke had all but cleared.

I've been slow to share portraits these days, but here are some shots from a recent family photoshoot, taken while the trees were still green and the temperature was still balmy. These girls looked amazing in their jewel-toned dresses. Enjoy the silly photo at the end. Silly group photos are one of my favourite things, and definitely gives the kids something to smile about!
