I was incredibly stoked to have heard a rusty wheel not long after I showed up to our cottage property in the Highlands. I didn’t even unpack my stuff before grabbing my camera and rushing out to try my luck with them again.

Warblers are stupid fast, almost never sitting still for more than a second so to have captured this frame at 1/250s has me feeling very happy and satisfied.

A short walk into the forest, away from the busy streets, can offer a lot if you know what to look for. Chipmunks never disappoint.

Here one sits atop a wooden fence, caught in the middle of sending out warning calls for an aerial predator, which sounds like a low-pitched cluck (or a knocking sound)

Out of Sight, Out of Mind

The odd shapes blurred out in the background are apart of the city harbour which hosts an asphalt and concrete mixing plant and a calcium chloride (corrosive salt) plant. All this sitting just short of 2km from a wildlife sanctuary I regularly visit, an important stopover for migrating birds. Kinda crazy don’t you think?
