Content warning for my photog friends - damaged camera
Last night I was shooting Punkfest when the unthinkable happened. You’re probably wondering - did my camera get damaged in the pit? Did a stray mosher high kick my lens square off?
No, because the crowd and community rules at these events and everyone is SO respectful of each other. What happened is much worse.
In between sets about halfway through, I went to go get a Jr. Chicken because I hadn’t had dinner. Returning from my car, maybe 50 feet from the venue, my body remembered that I’m actually really clumsy and I tripped on a curb.
My camera guts and contents of my bag went all through the intersection, when a few kind souls helped me gather my stuff and limp back to my car. Initially I thought my camera was cooked, but it seems to be just the lens, which means I’ll be back out shooting as soon as I get over it. A huge thank you to those that stopped. Falling flat on your face in a busy intersection and smashing your camera has to be one of the more embarrassing things you can do in your 30s.
Even worse, I will now spend the next few days (at least) on crutches, as I twisted my knee funny on the fence immediately following the curb.
All that to say - Punkfest pics from day 1 will be uploaded as soon as I can edit them! Thank you to all the bands that asked me to come shoot for them and I can’t wait to snap you at the next one (albeit moving slower).
