Hey there! I’m Megan, an Ottawa born, soon to be Victoria BC based fine art photographer. My photos are inspired by the unknown and the process of becoming re-enchanted with our world. I capture moments that feel lived in but not bound by time. ✨

I want my photos to serve as a starting point for your imagination to wander, and create a story unique to you and how you see our world. Each photo begins as a story, is imbued with my wonder and finally shaped into a photo. It truly brings me so much joy to share them with you!

Fun facts about me: 🪞

• I loathe being photographed myself
• I’m a dual citizen
• Easily frightened true crime ju**ie
• Forever reading the last page of the book first

Thank you for reading & stay strange friends 🖤

Yesterday Beckons”
// Created April 2023
📍Eilean Donan Castle, Scotland

The last image from my Scotland Collection, but ironically the first one that I chose for it. It just felt right 🖤

Instead of shooting the main castle (just to the left of this frame), I turned backwards to wonder at what the people who inhabited this castle many moons ago may have looked out to. It made me briefly feel like I was a part of history itself; I suppose one day we all will be.

This photo is a story about a land of changing times but the steadfast ability of landscapes to connect us all.

This print is now available on my website in all its moody glory ✨

"Bitter Reciprocity"
// Created April 2023
📍 Sgurr na Stri, Scotland

This cobbled pathway materialized from seemingly nowhere. Though lIl never know the patchwork of stories born in this place, it truly felt that something sinister was lying in wait just over the hilltop.

“Earth’s Amends”
// Created April 2023
📍 Isle of Skye, Scotland

Where my mind went while admiring this scene: Here is where the ocean and its waves conspired to make the earth smile. The ocean delighted in earth's shores because they kept her from losing herself in her depths. And the earth delighted in the ocean's waves washing away its scars. Here is where these two old friends revelled in each other's company, speaking a language only they know.

Prints of the lovely image are now available in my shop. Link in bio 🖤

“Epilogue Unwritten”
// Created April 2023
📍 Glencoe, Scotland

This image was created to reflect something I found much of in the Scottish Highlands - an entrancing yet sharply lonely type of beauty. I found it reminiscent of the beauty found in the parts of us that are lonely - perhaps buried. How they still run deep with untold worth and misunderstood beauty.

I hope this image serves as a reminder that, much like this landscape, we too are simply a part of nature expressing itself and there is no wrong way.

Wishing you a wonderful Saturday!

"Living Echoes"
// Created April 2023
📍Tobhta Uachdrach, Scotland

Each image I captured in Scotland was born from the question: what stories, now lost to time, unfolded in this very place? And in this particular place, I was lucky enough to learn of one such story.

Many moons ago in 1886, a young boy was out checking his rabbit traps when he stumbled across an old-looking sword. Shortly after, its partner was unearthed - a second 3000-year-old sword. I took a moment to imagine the lives of those who lost these swords and the boy who found them. An intersection of two lives spread thousands of years apart, yet linked by the same earth and elements.

I can't help but feel wistful for the boy who both discovered and became a part of history. 🗡️

My stomach still does a little flip every time I open a print. I think it's a combination of excitement, nerves and the feeling of being transported back to the moment the photo was captured. Whatever it is, I don't think that "first print feeling" will ever go away for me and I like it that way 🖤

Just finished hand signing a few 16×24" pieces that are up in my print shop for a limited time!

FUN FACT: This photo, captured on the Isle of Skye, is not just of a stunning lake (or loch as they call them). This lake is the site of a Kelpie folklore legend that ended on a note of wicked vengeance. The folklore that is woven throughout Scotland's history makes breathtaking places feel somehow even more magical. ✨

The Scotland Collection: Untold

This collection holds 10 photos, dear to my heart, created from my time in Scotland. I’ll be releasing it on my website, in all its misty glory, on Friday May 12th with limited prints available✨

Scotland was a velvet blanket of infinite landscapes. Each image in this collection is a collected story, imbued with my wonder and shaped into a photograph. To me, it is a love letter to paths almost crossed, stories never told and to the silent, shared understanding between the earth and us.

The Untold collection was born from the question: what stories, now lost to time, unfolded in this very place? The photos included in this collection are here because something shifted into place when I captured them. Almost like a moment of clarity when you can feel the story of a place with such energy it’s almost tangible. It is my hope that this feeling of connection echoes in the simplest, base parts of you.

My photos are of landscapes, yes, but they are created to be uniquely true to each of us. Coloured by our own distinct experiences. For you to see the story that beckons and be lost in it for a while. Thank you for sharing in these stories with me.
