What if you didn’t have to choose? What if experimental imperfections could coexist with technical excellence? What would happen if we released rigid dichotomies and allowed our creativity to flow whichever way it saw fit.

I struggle with how to reconcile two opposing things; in art but more importantly in life.

Today I am 33 and I’m feeling all sorts of feelings, but I think that might finally be okay. I’m excited to celebrate with friends and family, and also dreading being another year older. I’m thankful that I have the privilege of aging but still desperately clinging to my youth. Cheers to feeling it all!

Change is so difficult, and the transition from summer to fall has been particularly hard this year.

Thinking a lot about the lake and how it’s constantly ebbing and flowing with change. The shore line recedes and unveils hidden treasures, the waves roar with the incoming wind and then calm themselves in an instance. Never stagnant, and always accepting of what will come next.

I got a very “meh” roll of film back from the lab. It’s time like this I question why I shoot film in the first place, I have established a pretty solid workflow in the digital world.

I’ll still reach for my digital camera for commercial work, but for all things “fun” film just hits different lately. I have a super hard time just enjoying the journey of it all, so here is some more stuff I had a ton of fun shooting this summer!

I’ve realized I really hate sharing my work. It sometimes feels like I expect myself to only produce work worthy of high honours, and if it doesn’t quite meet that mark then I can’t share it.

In an attempt to break free from that mindset, here are some images that I don’t think are perfect or even good. There is no deep conceptual meaning, or even personal significance.

When I look back at these shots, I’m reminded that I was enduring some dark times when I shot these. But spending a few hours with my camera kept my demons at bay, and for that I’m fu***ng thankful.

Since I was very young, I’ve always felt a cleansing power of water. There is no more peaceful feeling than being underwater and opening your eyes to see the sun filter through the surface of the lake. Time stops and for a moment, all is well in the world.

I’ve been thinking a lot about what drew me to photography initially, and how my photo work has changed and evolved over the years.

Last year I still took on some fun commercial work, but also found myself shooting s**t for fun for the first time in a long time. I’m really excited to share things more organically on this page whether I feel like the images are technically sound or not, starting with some images from this winter.
