Weddings are such a beautiful opportunity to bring family together, but they can also remind us of the people who are no longer with us. I celebrated my wedding 2 years after my mom suddenly passed from cancer, and it was important to me to honour her memory in personal, quiet ways. I added a small photo of her to a locket I tied around my bouquet, and wore her jewelry throughout the night.
I have seen loved ones be honoured in other ways, such as saving an empty seat for them at the ceremony, mentioning them in speeches, or featuring photos of them as decor.
There’s no right or wrong way, and I encourage you to do whatever feels authentic and comfortable for you.
