My American friends this is how we save the Barred Owls contacting Congress asking for a YES on HJRES111! Sharing the post also helps raise awareness.

If you set your mind to it, you can do anything you want to it just takes passion, patience, and perseverance.

Who is with me? Let’s stop the barred owl massacre on the west coast of the USA! Contact Congress and share their videos. HJRES111 will nullify the massacre if enough people can use their voice!

He didn’t fall.
He graduated.

Baby Barred Owls leave the nest before their flight feathers are fully grown, so landing on the forest floor is completely normal.
From there, they climb and wait for their wings to catch up with their courage. Mom and dad are nearby.
Nature knows what it’s doing.
I’m just here to document the drama. 🦉

I shared this to remind people that what we often take as truth isn’t always the full story. Many are unaware of eBird, a public tool anyone can use to track and explore bird populations across regions. On the map, darker purple areas indicate higher owl populations.

I’m an advocate for all owls — yet few are discussing what’s really happening. For instance, Barred Owls can hybridize with Spotted Owls, while Great Horned Owls prey on Barred Owls. Only about one in three Barred Owl chicks survive to adulthood. Interestingly, you can call a Barred Owl and it may respond, but a Great Horned Owl almost never will — they are apex predators and more wary of humans. This is why we see Barred Owls more frequently: they’re trusting, while Great Horned Owls are cautious.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) plans to eliminate three owl types — Barred, Spotted, and hybrid “Sparred” Owls — in an effort to protect one species over another. But when that approach fails, as it likely will, the Great Horned Owl could be next.

How many owls must be lost before people take notice and contact Congress?
If you truly care about owls — prove it.

(And yes, this post has attracted its share of critics — but the truth often does.)
