Thanksgiving this year looks a little different than it has in past years. I normally take the weekend off to spend time with family, but this year I said yes to photographing 3 different weddings. I also reserved one day to spend with family (of course!), and I think we all agreed: it was our favourite Thanksgiving yet!!
We woke up and had a relaxed morning. My kids were thrilled because their aunties and uncle (and baby dogs) had a big sleepover at Poppy’s house, which is always the highlight of their week! There was zero stress in the kitchen since we all prepped different dishes and shared the cooking responsibilities. The biggest drama was when our gravy turned pink because we spontaneously decided to add beet juice (and accidentally added too much 😂), but it only resulted in delicious gravy AND another hilarious memory that we’ll laugh about in years to come!
And now, being surrounded by love all weekend and being able to share this time with my clients is not something I take for granted. I feel like I get to share in not one, but four beautiful Thanksgiving dinners with family (re: clients turned family).
I’m feeling so incredibly grateful for this job, this life, these people ♥️ The older I get the more I realize that you truly don’t need much to create core memories with people you love. So cheers to that, and cheers to all of you who put so much time and heart into creating safe and loving spaces for your own people, and for others. The world needs more of that. Wishing you all a wonderful long weekend, no matter how you spend your time living it xx
P.S. Swipe to see my children eating (more like inhaling) leftover pumpkin pie for breakfast. Also, genuinely curious: why do we eat pie for dessert after Thanksgiving when we’re already stuffed? I vote we save it for breakfast 👌🏼
