A little Mother’s Day post from my heart + a massive shout out to all of the mamas, matriarchs and mother-figures out there 🫶🏼

Raising tiny humans is not easy. And regardless of our diverse values and beliefs, I believe that most mothers out there are doing their best. Giving it all they can, through the good times and the hard times. Trying to steer their kids in the right direction and ultimately help them become good humans. Showing them the way.

Isn’t that what all of this is about?

We want our kids to grow up in a good world, a safe world. But there are days (and headlines) that can make us feel like this world is anything but.

Something I’ve realized since becoming a mom: the world our kids grow up in isn’t just something that happens around them. It’s something we shape. This is a pretty obvious thing, but I feel like it’s landed extra hard these days.

It’s in the way we speak. It’s in the way we treat people. It’s in the things we tolerate, and the things we stand up against.

Our kids are always watching and learning what kindness looks like, what courage looks like. What love looks like. So if we want a world with more empathy, more compassion, and more acceptance, it starts with us. It starts with the example we set and the values we pass on. It’s passed on through the love we show others (and ourselves).

More kindness and less hate. More empathy and less judgement. More love (always).

If we keep choosing that, over and over again… maybe and HOPEFULLY our kids really will grow up in the kind of world they deserve.

Wishing you all the day you need and sending you love to go with it

I had the honour and the privilege of photographing Monika + Alexandre’s engagement session at Cantina Gia on behalf of this winter and it was pure magic ✨️

Can you believe this entire shoot only took us 30 minutes?!

We can accomplish a lot when you trust your photographer + the process AND when you have a dreamy backdrop like . Happy wedding weekend, loves 🥂 I hope you have the best day xx

Thanksgiving this year looks a little different than it has in past years. I normally take the weekend off to spend time with family, but this year I said yes to photographing 3 different weddings. I also reserved one day to spend with family (of course!), and I think we all agreed: it was our favourite Thanksgiving yet!!

We woke up and had a relaxed morning. My kids were thrilled because their aunties and uncle (and baby dogs) had a big sleepover at Poppy’s house, which is always the highlight of their week! There was zero stress in the kitchen since we all prepped different dishes and shared the cooking responsibilities. The biggest drama was when our gravy turned pink because we spontaneously decided to add beet juice (and accidentally added too much 😂), but it only resulted in delicious gravy AND another hilarious memory that we’ll laugh about in years to come!

And now, being surrounded by love all weekend and being able to share this time with my clients is not something I take for granted. I feel like I get to share in not one, but four beautiful Thanksgiving dinners with family (re: clients turned family).

I’m feeling so incredibly grateful for this job, this life, these people ♥️ The older I get the more I realize that you truly don’t need much to create core memories with people you love. So cheers to that, and cheers to all of you who put so much time and heart into creating safe and loving spaces for your own people, and for others. The world needs more of that. Wishing you all a wonderful long weekend, no matter how you spend your time living it xx

P.S. Swipe to see my children eating (more like inhaling) leftover pumpkin pie for breakfast. Also, genuinely curious: why do we eat pie for dessert after Thanksgiving when we’re already stuffed? I vote we save it for breakfast 👌🏼

In honour of today being our last day in Thailand, I thought I’d share 20 beautiful frames (re: rectangles 😂) with y’all from a session I did here.

Philipp and Daniel were a DREAM to work with. And if words don’t convince you, hopefully the photos will.

I’m so grateful for couples like this who make my job feel like anything but “work”.

I’m so grateful for being able to document love in all shapes and forms, all over the world.

And finally, I’m SO grateful to have had such an amazing time in Thailand, but might be even more thankful to be returning home to my own bed, my own shower, and a little slice of routine after 2 big big months of vacay.

Thank you Thailand for what was undoubtedly the most wonderful time spent. As I’ve learned from the locals: ขอบคุณ for everything 🙏🏼🤍🇹🇭

So long sweet summer ☀️

It’s the last weekend of August and as much as I’m looking forward to a beautiful fall season (my fav), I’m sad to see summer end. Anyone else caught in this limbo of nostalgia vs excitement?!

Fall Mini Sessions ✨

An exciting collaboration between Lauren McCormick Photography and Farmgate Cider (my absolute fav). I’m excited to announce that we’re opening up a brand new experience that we’ve never offered before: fall mini sessions in the apple orchard 🍎

With me (Lauren) as your photographer, we’ll have full access to Farmgate’s beautiful apple orchards and stunning autumn scenery. We’ll also treat you to Farmgate’s signature European-style cider or freshly-pressed apple juice straight from the orchard. Honestly it’s the best in the valley - you gotta come try it! 🍻

We’ve already filled half a dozen spots since we released these to our newsletter subscribers (🎉) which means if you want a spot, you should snag one quickly! I suspect these will sell out fast. Link in bio to book a session, or DM me if you have any questions xx

Just a little love note to all my fellow wedding vendors because we’re halfway through wedding season and y’all are killing it 🤍

Truly. I’ve worked with so many of you this year who have been pouring your heart and soul into what you do. It’s been inspiring to see you all in your element and work alongside you to create magic (see example above) ✨

Once a month, our team gets together to do a tour of a different venue in the Ottawa wedding industry.

This month, we’re putting a spin on this by visiting the studio. Kat’s taking us on a tour of the studio, talking us through all things florals, and walking us through the anatomy of a bouquet.

Stay tuned for some behind the scenes footage of our adventure and take part in our poll to see who from our team makes the best bouquet 💐
