I'm delighted to share that my photograph "Ghost of Her Sorrow" is one of the 4 works to receive the Award of Recognition for artistic achievement in the "Who is Your Self-ie?" exhibition presented by John B. Aird Gallery. Needless to say I feel eternally grateful for this honour even though I wasn't physically present at the reception last night. Huge thanks to Ella Morton for selecting my work and Lisa Murzin for curating and organizing this show. While this exhibition is primarily online, "Ghost of Her Sorrow" can be viewed IRL at Loohoo on 1380 Queen Street W, Toronto until the end of the month.

Last week, I opened my solo exhibition under CONTACT Photography Festival's Open Call Program in Toronto. I have been wanting to participate it for a long time and luckily got to connect with Lindsay from Loohoo: Cute Gift Shop in Parkdale this January, which she happened to have a vacancy for the May artist feature. "Imported Goods" is now being displayed at 1380 Queen Street West from 11am to 6pm, Wednesday through Saturday until May 31. I also designed some 4x5 postcards along with my editioned prints, all available to pick up at the venue.

Check out the instagram post about what we've been working on:

To show an ongoing series like that is something I would be too insecure to do in the past, but as I think about how "Imported Goods" reflects on the evolving stories about Taiwanese resilience and growth in the cultural context, it became a reasonable decision. And I am really proud to see my photographs blend in with Loohoo's whimsical atmosphere. I truly appreciate Lindsay's patience regarding my overwhelming (but blissful) schedule this year, as well as her insights and vision of this collaboration. I have been deeply loved by Toronto's art community, and there's no better way to conclude my university career with such a unique milestone.

Pushed this roll by 2 stops thinking this is a 400 iso roll. Wasn’t in a good headspace either but taking the camera with me for a walk felt intuitive.
