Ottawa, Ontario// li poté mond lan sou do li - is Haitian Creole for “She carries the world on her back” this idea came to me after listening to a podcast about Mamie Till ( Emmitt Till’s mother). Instead of being defeated by the brutal murder of her 14yr old son, this mother chose to stand up and fight her oppressors. Not only for the Justice of her son but for all injustice. She was a great woman and this piece is dedicated to her.
