After spending 4 weekends in a row driving an hour to The County of Leeds & The Thousand Islands to photograph great blue herons, it was a very pleasant surprise this past weekend to come across two families much closer to home in Lanark County. I literally did a fist pump when I spotted the nests at the far end of a long skinny pond ☺️ Yes, I'm officially a bird nerd. 🤫 Four chicks downstairs, and two upstairs. They're looking almost full-size though, so it's only a matter of time before they vacate the nests for good, but I'm hoping they'll still be there this weekend 🤞
