Rod Windover Photographer

Rod Windover Photographer I live, play and work in Ottawa. I was born in Edmonton, Alberta. My two adult children were both active as amateur athletes growing up.

I am a sports photographer with broad interests: alpine ski racing, mountain bike racing, basketball and volleyball, equestrian and motorsports action shots in Ottawa, Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. My son competed in track and sledge hockey and my daughter played ice hockey and soccer. My strongly held personal philosophy is that positive sport experiences are ideally suited for youth and ad

olescents as part of embracing a lifelong commitment to physical and mental well-being. I also believe that recreational and high performance sport opportunities contribute toward healthy and engaged communities, and nations.

Ever had that moment during a game or race where everything happens in a blur—and later you realize the photographer missed it? It’s more common than you’d think.

Choosing an action photographer isn’t just about who has the fanciest camera or the flashiest Instagram. It’s about finding someone who can handle the chaos, adapt on the fly, and still deliver those split-second shots that tell the real story of your event. Communication, reliability, and quick turnarounds matter just as much as technical skill—especially when the pressure’s on and there are no do-overs.

Curious what to really look for when booking your next event photographer? Drop your thoughts or questions below!

Discover expert tips for selecting an action sports photographer who delivers high-quality sports images, fast turnaround, and reliable communication—even in demanding event conditions.

Ever wondered why some athletes and teams seem to land more sponsorships than others? It’s not always about winning the game—sometimes, it’s about how you capture the action.

Sponsors are searching for moments that tell a story, not just another team photo. When your highlight reel is filled with dynamic, professional images, it’s easier for brands to see themselves alongside your success. That one game-changing shot might just be the reason a sponsor chooses your team over the next.

Have you ever noticed how a single photo can change the conversation? Drop your thoughts or share your favorite action shot in the comments!

Ever find yourself missing “the shot” at a live game because everything just moves too fast? You’re not alone—it’s one of the biggest headaches for anyone trying to photograph sports.

It turns out, snapping those jaw-dropping action shots isn’t just about having a fancy camera or quick reflexes. There’s actually a strategy behind anticipating the best moments, and it starts before the whistle even blows. If you’ve ever wondered why some photographers always seem to nail those epic, story-filled images, there’s a method to their madness.

Have you ever struggled to capture that game-changing moment? Drop your most challenging sports photo story in the comments or let me know what you wish you could capture better!
