OUTLOOK - It's always interesting what you can see when you're up high above.
I took my drone camera out into the community recently and launched it high into the air above Outlook, capturing not only still images, but also a number of video clips that I'll be editing into one compilation of assorted footage. That particular video will be uploaded to both Facebook and YouTube, but I just had to share a specific photo I captured the other day.
Sending the drone into the air just above the South Saskatchewan River, I captured some unique footage of the SkyTrail walking bridge, which has been closed since late 2013 and has been the focus of a lot of conversation around Outlook lately. The town's recent public forum held at the Civic Centre in September ended up being centered on the status of the bridge and it showed that many people in the community certainly hope to see the SkyTrail reopened one day soon.
In its heyday between 2004 and 2013, the SkyTrail was promoted as the "Longest pedestrian walking bridge in all of Canada."
This particular photo I captured shows the bridge, as well as the accompanying 'BOB' in the distant background, or the 'Big Orange Bridge'. It's amazing what drone camera technology is capable of, and such a shot reminds me of an eyecatching postcard you might see in a town's tourism shop.
Along with many other local residents, I too hope for a reopening of the SkyTrail someday soon. Those views and that atmosphere are too incredible to leave behind.
In addition, I've included a shot high above the town of Outlook that I captured a few weeks ago. It reminds me of one of those old-time paintings of rural communities that I used to see when I was a kid.
It's incredible getting these different perspectives on this great community!
