I love LOVE 𝙇𝙊𝙑𝙀 a good edit.

I think that's where I connect to the artistic side of photography the most. Where you get to play with the colours, and how the light looks, and all the good stuff. I think a good edit really is what adds the right vibe to a photo. An edit can make or break a photo.

I think people tend to think that editing is as easy as just throwing on an Instagram filter.

And like, yeah, some people do that, but I think it shows.

Good edits come from an understanding of lighting, colour, your camera, and a little psychology. And you gotta mix it all together in the right way to make it work.

It's tough, and there's still a lot of things I'm still learning, but I get so excited to try these things out on my photos.

𝓜𝓲𝓻𝓻𝓸𝓻, 𝓜𝓲𝓻𝓻𝓸𝓻...

I like to think I'm a creative person, but I gotta say, a lot of it is thanks to my clients.

A lot of my cool shots come from clients going "hey, can we do this, or try this?"

And I gotta tell ya, I think it's so awesome when my clients come to me with these ideas. First, I think it's so awesome that you trust me with these amazing concepts. But also, I just love working with you guys. And having those creative sparks fly with someone else is always such a fun process.

So when Chortney was like "can we bring an antique mirror into the creek?"

I think my answer was something along the lines of:

"OH HECK YEAH"

Bring interesting objects with you, ask about colour and lighting, try a pose you saw online. It makes the session so much more fun, interesting, and most importantly: unique to you!

As you may have heard, I've done some price restructuring, and I'm so excited to share with you the one thing I am most excited about:

𝑷𝒂𝒚-𝒑𝒆𝒓-𝑷𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒐 𝑾𝒆𝒅𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑷𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒔

It's a great way to save on your wedding photography, especially if you're not looking for 500 photos.

Which I think makes a lot of sense, because let's get real: in 5 or 10 years, how many of those photos are you still going to be looking at?

5? 10? Maybe 50-100 if you have a wedding album.

Heck, even in a year's time, half of those photos you've paid for, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯.

So I wanted to have an option where you only pay for the photos you know you're going to love looking at again and again.

How does it work?

Pretty simple, you pay $80 per hour for me to show up and take images, and then after your wedding day, select the images you want to have at $3.50 per photo.

That means you can get a full days worth of coverage, plus enough images for a wedding album for under $1000.

That's CRAZY.

And if you're looking for only partial days, or elopements, it only gets better from there.

So thankful it's finally starting to cool off. I don't know about y'all, but I am definitely a cool weather person. These warm temps have been KILLING me. 🥵

It's one of the reasons why I push for shoulder season weddings so much. You and your fiance are going to wearing some pretty heavy clothing, the day gets busy and sometimes you forget to hydrate, and the temperatures here in the Okanagan can get HOT.

Put all of those together, and you might end up with some heat exhaustion for you or your guests.

And in the Okanagan, you're guaranteed good weather for longer than just the summer months, so why not get married in April or October?

Something to think about if you're planning your wedding.

Bonus: many vendors (including me!) offer discounts during their shoulder or off-season. If you're looking to save some cash, but not willing to give up on things like flowers or guest list, this is a great way to still get the wedding you want on a discount!
