Saw another photographer turning hockey photos into something straight out of the 90s… and honestly, it pulled on my heart strings a bit.
So I had to try it. I wanted to take clean modern youth hockey photos to a 1998 tournament photo someone found in a drawer.
For any photographers wanting to try it, the 90s look wasn’t about perfection…
• grainy, not clean
• off-centered, not perfectly framed
• high contrast but slightly faded
• colors a little off (in a good way)
• a bit soft, a bit gritty
It feels less like a photo and more like a memory. I’m still learning this editing style but had a lot of fun with this opportunity
