Your love languages say a lot about how you show you care for each other and considering it as a way to shape your engagement session is a fantastic way to make sure it feels more like, well...you!

By knowing your love languages, then I can better understand how to capture that love at its best. Here are some couple session ideas based on WORDS OF AFFIRMATION:

Handwritten Love Letter Picnic – Let’s go to a meadow or cliffside and have you write and read letters to each other
Bookstore Engagement – At a cozy indie bookstore, sharing your favourite poems or underlining meaningful passages in vintage novels.
Typewriter Vows – Let’s use a vintage typewriter where you write mini vows to each other and read them aloud.
Lyrics & Song Titles – Let’s go to a record shop (or maybe you have your own collection) and find songs that remind them of each other.
Postcards - Let’s go to a shop, select some postcards and mail them off to each other, just because.

Want to see your love language next? Follow along, I’ll be going through them all!

When Laura and Liam first reached out to me, they spoke with such excitement about their love for the outdoors and how they envisioned a ceremony surrounded by nature. They wanted an adventurous photographer who could help bring their dream to life, and I was all in.

Their day was perfectly balanced between heartfelt emotion and calm simplicity. They got ready in two separate cabins tucked among the trees with their maid of honour and best man by their sides.

One of my favourite moments was watching Laura and her dad paddle across the lake to the ceremony site. That was their “aisle,” a peaceful glide over the still lake that reflected all the fall colours surrounding us. Laura managed to get in and out of the canoe in her dress, veil, and high heels with complete grace (so impressive!). It was such a unique entrance and a perfect reflection of her adventurous spirit.

Laura and Liam’s wedding is now up on the blog with gallery highlights if you’re itching to see more!

First look or not to first look? That, truly, is the questions.

First looks are great if you want a private moment between you and your beloved. It can be touching and sweet. It’s also a great time to read your vows to each other if you are a little shy. They can ease pre-ceremony jitters and give you and your partner some time together before the day begins. They also allow you to enjoy your cocktail hour with your guests. But they tend to be in the middle of the day, when the lighting isn’t the best.

Whereas having that moment when your partner sees you for the first time down the aisle is ICONIC. It allows for extra getting ready time in the morning, so you’re not rushed to get into your attire. But it means a little less time with your guests post-ceremony as that is the typical time for family, wedding party and couple photos if there is no first look.

If you’re still not sure whether to do a first look or not, that’s okay - we can chat about it before your wedding day!

At any given moment, this is what I’m thinking about:

Pride and Prejudice
Longing glances
slow burn romances
the handflex
Mr. Darcy’s smile when he finally opens up to Elizabeth
Liz on Top of the World from the soundtrack
boiled potatoes

If I could make Pride and Prejudice my entire personality I would, it is my favourite movie after all (ask me how many times I’ve watched it this year), and it’s where I draw most of my inspiration from in my photography. Pride and Prejudice feels both timeless and tender.

I want to embody a little Austen in my work too, where your story feels full of emotion, a little funny and a whole lot of belief in love.

Morning of the wedding? Deep breath, it’s showtime (the fun kind). ✨

Here are 4 little tips to help your morning flow stay stress free:

Things always take longer than you think. Build in buffer time for everything, that way you’re not rushing.

Set aside your details and attire. Rings, perfume, invites, dress, veil, shoes, any important keepsakes... all ready for me to photograph when I get there.

You’ll be photographed in your space, whatever it looks like. If you don’t want a cluttered space, than tidy the space before the day gets started.

Take a few moments to take it all in with your crew, whether it’s your wedding party, your family or just you, having those moments can help you remain in that “I’m getting married!” mindset.

If you’re dreaming of starting your day with sweet, calm, joy-soaked moments, creating a framework in which they can happen is key! Save this to remind yourself!

If you’ve ever said, “we’re so awkward in photos,” you’re my kind of people. Seriously. Most couples start their session telling me that… and then ten minutes later they’re laughing, snuggling, and totally forgetting I’m even there.

Here’s the secret…

You don’t need to know what to do. That’s my job! I’ll guide you just enough to keep you moving, talking, laughing. The rest? It’s just you two being you, and that’s where the magic lives.

So don’t stress about poses or perfect smiles. Bring your energy, your weird jokes, your love that brought us here. I’ll handle the rest and I promise you’ll leave saying, “wait… that was actually fun.”

Planning an outdoor wedding in Ontario? You’re speaking my love language! From magical forest “I-do’s” to lakeside vows, picking a spot that feels like you sets the tone before you begin.

When you choose a place that brings nature and flexibility to the table, you get a wedding day that’s more than just beautiful, it’s authentic and it’s alive. Imagine this: views that feel like secret backdrops, ceremony spaces that don’t need much décor, and photo moments tucked into the landscape.

Of course, logistics matter too (that’s kind of important!); make sure your guests can get there, there’s a rain plan (Ontario weather is dramatic), and basic comforts like bathrooms and power are covered. But when all that’s in place, you get to lean into what you’re really there for: connection, adventure, and memories that don’t feel staged

So if you’re dreaming of saying “I do” with your shoes off and the wind in your hair let’s find the place that gives your story the stage it deserves.

Just your heartfelt reminder that your love isn’t supposed to look perfect...it’s supposed to be real and rooted in friendship

The best kind of love lets you be a little kid again. The kind where you laugh until your cheeks hurt, run around barefoot, and forget the camera’s even there.

That’s the magic I want for you! I want your photos that feel like you, not a Pinterest board. When you hang out with a photographer who lets you be your goofy, soft, perfectly imperfect selves, the story we tell becomes so much more real.

I want you to come as you are, bring the giggles and the inside jokes. I’ll bring the camera and the joyful presence and lighthearted prompts. Together, we’ll make something that actually feels like you!
