the long awaited location tips post ✨

one of the questions I answer before it’s even asked as a prince edward county and stone mills photographer is, “where should we do our photos?”

i always send my clients plenty of location options, but i genuinely love exploring new locations too.

some of my favourite sessions have happened at family farms, backyards, and places that meant something to the people in the photos.

that being said, a pretty location ≠ pretty photos.

when i’m helping clients choose a location, i’m thinking about things like light, space, comfort, and whether the location gives us enough options to create a full gallery.

yes, i do in-home newborn sessions 🥹 i got to drive all the way to cobourg for this one and this fam stole my whole heart.

alsoooo i feel like i should do a little availability update because things have been feeling very booked lately in the best way and I’m overjoyed! i really wanted to host lilac minis this year but somehow the season just totally slipped away from me. HOWEVER… i found four lilac bushes in our yard that literally did not flower last year??? so that felt like the happiest little surprise ever when I looked out the window this morning.

i’m secretly hoping i come across some lilacs during sessions this week because i’m not over it yet. maybe in the next couple years i’ll be able to host lilac sessions right at home... dreamy.

as for bookings: june is almost completely full for sessions, but please don’t let that stop you from reaching out because sometimes i can still squeeze something in depending on timing/location 🤍

july + august currently have the most availability, but this is also your reminder that your session is not officially booked until the contract is signed + retainer is paid!

september + october weekends are fully booked. i *might* try to host one morning of fall minis in october if i can make it work this year (which feels crazy to even be thinking about already lol). if you loved the fall minis last year and were hoping i’d do them again, please let me know because feedback genuinely helps me decide what’s worth planning. i hate blocking off a bunch of dates and planning everything out when people don’t end up following through (which i totally understand because life happens and this is part of having a business, but my schedule is just sooo limited).

also the weather lately?!?!?! i have a maternity session tonight with one of my favourite couples and i already know we’re about to create actual freaking magic. sometimes I feel... no, I know... i’m living in a dream with this job 🥹

andddd 28 days until my very own freaking wedding ahhhhhhhh 😭… I mean ourrrrr wedding.

i had a vision of this entire evening in my head for months + somehow the real thing ended up being better than I imagined.

one month from now, i’ll be getting married here. this week coming, we’re taking our engagement photos here. and this past weekend, a few photographers came to the house to create alongside me during one of nicest spring evenings we’ve had this year.

i look around lately and just feel overwhelmingly grateful for this life, this season and the people in it. 🤍

the sun is finally freaking shining & honestly… it’s right on time 🥹🥹 I have a full weekend of fresh spring session ahead & my content day at the house on Sunday. I am genuinely so so SO excited!!!!!

it feels pretty special to have a few photographers joining me in my own space to photograph this cutie couple. Dusty is picking up the boat tonight (that my perfect, amazing nephew has been working on for me), the table is set for their little countryside date night scene & I genuinely could not have asked for better weather 🤠

now everyone please cross your fingers that there are absolutely no bugs because that would reeeeally complete the vibe.

if any photographers or videographers would like to join us on Sunday, I have room for 2 more people! 🖤 & if not, I have a feeling this definitely won’t be the last one.

congratulations to these two sweeties! shay went above & beyond to plan a heartfelt proposal for his love (and now fiancé) angeline 🤍

she thought they were only in PEC for her birthday weekend, but the white dress he picked out for her told a different story.

I’m so happy for you both + am honoured that I got to be a part of such a special moment.

i’m not everyone’s photographer + that’s okay…

the more aligned we are going into your session, the more you’re actually going to feel it when you get your photos back and that’s always, always, always what i want for my clients who trust me to document what’s so special to them

this sweet little bub is already here & I haven’t even posted these maternity photos yet 🥹

if that doesn’t tell you how fast this stage goes, I don’t know what will

maternity sessions will forever be one of my favourite things to photograph. I know not everyone feels amazing during this time, but it’s such a special in-between… your life is about to completely change and you don’t even fully know how yet

I always recommend booking around the 7 month mark.

you’ve popped, you still feel somewhat like yourself, and photos are still manageable!

I have 4 spots left for my mother’s day minis and if your timing lines up with that, they would be sooo perfect for this

i’d say it’s finally time to introduce myself… or at least say hi if you’ve been here for a while :)

it’s another year of doing what i love so much, and it feels more meaningful than ever. over the last couple years, being at weddings has felt different. i’ve felt so connected to my couples and their families, and it’s made me realize just how special and important each of those days really are!

booking a wedding isn’t just booking a wedding to me. i know i’m “just a vendor,” but i truly value being part of those moments. that camera in my hands is holding memories for the rest of their lives, their kids’ lives & even their grandchildrens 🥹

now stepping into a year where i get to be a bride (🥳!!!!!!!), i appreciate my vendors in a whole new way. i can see how much they shape every little piece and fuel the excitement. i feel so special, and i honestly can’t even fathom that this is how my clients (hopefully) feel when they work with me

this is such a beautiful part of life, and i’m beyond honoured that after all this time, i still get to do it

i love, love, love it… and i love you for being here 🤍

spring is on its way & you can feel it 🌿

everything starts to feel a little lighter, you actually want to be outside again & your baby is suddenly not as little as they were a few months ago

this is usually when people start thinking about photos, not because anything big is happening, but just because you want to remember this version of life before it shifts again

family sessions are really all about that. just being together, as you are.

I always guide you through the session, but the most special photos end up being from paying attention to what’s already there 🤍
