Several months ago, when I decided to start my own photography business, I pondered, “What’s a cool collection to create?” After months of hard work and exploration, I’m thrilled to present to you my Tulameen Train Trestle Collection.
In total, there are three trestles in the Tulameen area:
1. One in Tulameen on Otter Lake
2. Another at White Sands Beach, southeast of Coalmont
3. A third further southeast from there, closer to Princeton
These trestles aren't just stunning pieces of engineering; they are woven into the very fabric of Tulameen’s history and natural beauty. For over a century, the KVR has been an integral part of Tulameen. It was once a bustling railway and later transformed into a popular trail for ATVs.
Unfortunately, in 2021, the trail was severely damaged by flooding, rendering much of it inaccessible. Despite this, the trestles stand tall, representing the resilience and enduring legacy of our community.
Next time you’re out exploring, make sure to visit these incredible structures and take a moment to appreciate the history and beauty they represent. I hope my photos inspire you to see these landmarks through a new lens. Share your own photos and stories about the KVR trestles below!
For those interested, prints of each trestle are available for order on my website at clayfalkphotography.ca or simply message me here for print information.
