I heard a bald eagle's distress cry coming from the ground in some fairly thick bush just off a trail. I could make out an eagle thrashing around, beating it's wing against something. A jogger held my dog's leash while I went in to see if it was trapped by something. It turned out to be another eagle it was beating who's head was covered in blood. It was early December and eagles breed in mid February so I knew it wasn't a mating repair. Probably a particularly vicious territorial flight. Anyway, I decided to break up the fight and see if either of them were badly injured.
