I made some butterfly wings a couple weeks ago and finally got around to using them. The plan was to be outside but it's been a bit cold, so we pivoted and did a little shoot indoors.

Violet had fun jumping about with the butterfly wings. Bonus points for having her interested in photos!

Side note: that's the last time I put her hair down like that. It makes her look grown up. 😭

It took me until my late 30's to realize that maybe I am a creative. 🙃 My path has lead me down a sporty, science road with a degree in kinesiology. I've always loved to learn and learning photography has opened up a way of being creative. Right now, I am currently building my portfolio. While I am absolutely down to shoot a family portrait session anytime, my focus is on creative children's photography, as well as still life flower photography. I love kids and I love flowers so that's what I'm focusing on!

Part of my goals with my new website is to publish blog posts! I am dipping back into some older work to share before I start with some newer stuff. At the end of summer last year, a few families joined me for some photos at the Port Hope Town Park. Even when the subject doesn't want to cooperate, there's always a couple photos that will turn out. We took a cute pastel outfit of the day, a paper flower headband and a park slide as the background and made some art. 📸

I'm looking to build up my portfolio with some fun kids pictures. If you have a kid(s), even teens that you think would be interested in helping me out, please reach out to me. In the meantime, I'll be enlisting my daughter, family and friends' kids to be my subjects.

I used to love photographing food, and then I moved onto flowers, but...kids portraits are my new favourite. Children are so much fun! If you are worried about your kid being shy or having a meltdown, I totally get it...and I'm also unbothered by it. So don't hesitate to book that family portrait session if you have little ones!
