I love having a corner of the studio set up for still life so I can pop in and capture photos at anytime. I couldn’t resist creating an image of these beautiful flowers I received for my birthday from . I added color toning, digital textures and hand painted the image in photoshop to create a painterly effect.

I found this shed antler on our old property in Sault Ste Marie. Normally I leave nature in its place but this specimen became part of my collection and has been used for a photo prop and teaching tool ever since.

Bean wandered onto the set to inspect my still life… and decided to stay and steal the spotlight. Check out my feed for the final photo.

This morning, as I drank my coffee, I spotted an owl perched across the field—silent, still, watching. By the time I reached for my camera and stepped outside, it had already slipped back into the darkness, leaving only the echo of its presence behind.

The rain from the night before left the air cool and heavy, wrapped in a soft veil of fog. So I wandered toward the woods anyway, hoping for another glimpse. Instead, I found myself slowing down… noticing the way the season is shifting, how the last of summer’s warmth gives way to the quiet beauty of fading blooms and soft, muted tones.

There’s something comforting in these small, overlooked moments—proof that even as the world around us changes, there’s always something worth pausing for.
