Photo capture of the week. The bald eagles on Vancouver Island North are incredible. During the fall salmon-spawning season, you can spot bald eagles in large numbers near rivers.

My very first Northern Pygmy Owl! I was so fortunate enough to be able to see this adorable, fluffy fur ball up there during my visit. The Owl actually came up to me! It sensed my tranquil vibes. I was so happy!

Wildlife photography is a never ending learning journey and that's what I love about it. Learning something new all the time, doing different things, but most importantly respecting and understanding wildlife is key! Not many people do that and it's frustrating seeing them chase wildlife for that shot, it's highly unethical.

Alright, I'm not sure where to begin with uploading photos from my two week adventure in the Yukon, Alaska, and Northern BC Road Trip! However, I figured I'd start here. I spotted this Canadian Lynx on the first day heading North of BC in the evening!

It's an interesting story actually, it was late in the evening, and I thought I saw a large Rabbit hopping off into the bush on the side of the road and we were exhausted so we stopped and checked the dash cam... Only to see it was a Lynx! So we circled back, waited, and waited... Then the Lynx came right back out and wandered down the highway! My first Lynx ever, and I'm so overjoyed I managed to snap photos of it!!!

Also, I have to thank the sun for never setting up North! Literally, there's 24/7 daylight up there, I can do photography until midnight. It's incredible! And I'm exhausted because of it! But there's so many opportunities for photography up North during the summer. I highly recommend it! 👌

I have some great news! After moving my trail camera to a more secluded, hard to get to place I've had much more luck with obtaining and retrieving wolf footage! It took a while to find a good spot, but I'm happy to say that I've found the sea wolf hotpot! I created my own trail and after like 12 spider bites and plethora of hours of hiking it paid off! 💪

I've been keeping an eye on this pack of wolves since October 2022, and there's 5 of them right now. 2 wolf pups that are growing up fast! (You can see they are the skinny, small ones in the footage) and the alpha is the confident, big, greyish brave one that has his tail in the air and comes up to the trail camera a lot. I have so much love and respect for these beautiful creatures, so I won't be disclosing the locations of them due to the fact that they aren't protected on Vancouver Island here. Anybody with a hunting licence can hunt and kill and trap these beautiful wolves with no special tags required. Makes me sick talking about it, sorry. Anyways, I hope you enjoy the short episode of these beautiful wolves! (How could anybody hurt them)?

I put together a little video of the herring feeding frenzy! 🐟 Volume Up 🔊

The event took place from March 25th - 29th in Port McNeill, BC.
